Spot Bitcoin ETFs Attract Fresh Inflows as Ethereum Funds…

U.S. spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds recorded another day of positive inflows on July 20, with both Bitcoin and Ethereum investment products attracting fresh institutional capital despite continued market volatility.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs posted a combined net inflow of approximately $181 million, marking another positive session for the asset class after a strong recovery in demand during July. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) led the sector with roughly $142 million in net inflows, while Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) added approximately $39 million. Other issuers, including Bitwise, Ark 21Shares, VanEck, Franklin Templeton, Valkyrie and Invesco Galaxy, recorded largely flat flows for the session.
Meanwhile, U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs extended their recent positive momentum with total net inflows of approximately $38 million. BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) accounted for the majority of the day's activity, attracting around $31 million, while Fidelity's Ethereum Fund (FETH) contributed roughly $7 million. The remaining Ethereum ETFs finished the session with minimal or no net changes.
The continued inflows suggest institutional investors remain willing to increase exposure to digital assets even as cryptocurrency prices consolidate following a volatile first half of the year.
BlackRock Continues to Dominate ETF Demand
BlackRock once again emerged as the dominant beneficiary of institutional allocations across both asset classes. The firm's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have consistently attracted the largest share of new investment since their respective launches, reflecting strong demand from wealth managers, registered investment advisers and institutional investors.
Bitcoin ETFs have now returned to sustained inflow territory after experiencing several weeks of redemptions earlier in the year. The recovery has coincided with improving macroeconomic sentiment, easing geopolitical concerns and renewed optimism surrounding U.S. crypto legislation, including progress on the CLARITY Act.
Ethereum funds have also experienced a notable improvement in investor appetite over recent weeks. Growing institutional interest has been supported by increased adoption of tokenized real-world assets, expanding stablecoin infrastructure and rising expectations that Ethereum will play a central role in on-chain financial markets.
The combined inflows into Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs highlight the increasing importance of regulated investment vehicles for institutions seeking crypto exposure without directly holding digital assets.
Institutional Momentum Remains Intact
Since the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs, regulated crypto funds have become one of the primary channels through which institutional capital enters the digital-asset market. Daily ETF flow data is now closely monitored by traders because sustained inflows often coincide with increased buying pressure in the underlying spot market.
While daily figures can fluctuate significantly, consistent positive flows generally indicate improving investor sentiment and longer-term capital allocation rather than short-term speculative trading.
BlackRock's continued dominance also reinforces the concentration of institutional demand among the largest asset managers, whose established distribution networks have attracted significant allocations from professional investors.
Although a single day's inflows are unlikely to determine market direction on their own, July 20's results demonstrate that institutional appetite for regulated crypto investment products remains healthy. With both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs continuing to record net subscriptions, fund flows remain one of the strongest indicators supporting broader confidence in the digital-asset market as the second half of 2026 progresses.
